It pays to be wary when buying used washers and dryers. It is very difficult to tell how much usage these units have received over the years. They may look great but perform poorly. Motors and gears can be worn. Belts on tumblers may be close to wearing out, thermostats can be out of order and water seals can be at the end of their useful lives. Unless you know the history of the washer and dryer you are considering, the better choice might be to buy one from a reputable dealer who will stand behind his merchandise and extend a warranty of some sort on the products.
